The Plant Molecular Biology Laboratory was established in January 2008 based on the School of Plant Science of Jilin University.

Based on the "multiple adversity", the most prominent limiting factor in the development of modern agriculture in Northeast China, the research office starts from the needs of developing modern agriculture, ensuring high grain yields, giving full play to the advantages of disciplines, and cultivating innovative talents. Plants and microorganisms, as well as biological and abiotic adversities that are closely related to them, use modern plant molecular biology and genetic engineering theories to carry out germplasm screening and utilization of special and excellent genetic resources in Northeast China, cloning and transformation of important traits and functional genes, and high yield , High-quality, high-efficiency, and multi-resistance new varieties of crops.

Aiming at rice blast and gloeosporium anthracnose which are of great economic value and scientific significance, from the perspective of the interaction between the "host-pathogen-environment", the focus is on the adaptation, survival, evolution and pathogenic mechanism of pathogenic fungi . The relationship between the survival of the rice blast fungus and the disease cycle under extreme low temperature conditions in the northeast cold region has been studied, and it has been confirmed that the rice blast fungus mitochondrial genes are involved in the regulation of the pathogenic process. The study of mitochondrial gene transcription regulation and its pathogenic mechanism is currently being carried out. Carrying out green disease prevention and control is of important guiding significance; at the same time, using the interaction system of rice blast fungus and rice, and Colletotrichum gloeosporioides and corn, a series of pathogenic factors and candidate effect factors common to Pyricularia grisea and Colletotrichum were discovered. The creation of broad-spectrum disease-resistant crop materials provides an important reference.

In addition, in view of the "multiple adversity" geographic and climatic conditions in the Northeast, from the perspective of mining extreme microbial resources and biological control resources in the Northeast, a series of multi-resistance factors and biological control factors with important application potential have been identified and preserved. Reveals the molecular mechanism of polyclonal antibodies. In-depth study of the poly-resistance mechanism of extreme halophilic Aspergillus, discovered a series of poly-resistance genetic resources and resistance genes, and provided safe and reliable genetic resources for carrying out resistance genetic engineering. At the same time, in view of the increasing reality of saline soil, polluted soil and desertified soil in Northeast China, from the level of intersection and integration of plant pathology and microbiology, in-depth research on the restoration and mechanism of beneficial microbial resources on saline soil has been found, and many biocontrols have been discovered. The resource not only has the characteristics of antagonistic bacteria, but also has the functions of metal ion enrichment and organic acid secretion. On this basis, the microecological preparations for soil restoration and improvement have been developed and created, and the economic benefits are extremely significant.

There are more than 10 permanent staff in the research room. In recent years, they have undertaken more than 40 various scientific research projects, with a total funding of more than 10 million yuan, published more than 60 papers, including more than 50 SCI papers, applied for more than 30 patents, and trained doctors and masters. More than 100 graduate students.
